Felix hated having the night shift. It was boring and it was always the creepiest time to work. The doctors were more 'familiar' with the patients and the guards would disappear into rooms for hours at a time. What pigs. Praying on the insane like they were put there just for them. He felt self righteous, but he was glad he was called to patrol the patient hallways tonight. No more faint grunts and squeals.
His stiff uniform was slacked now, since he had been on the job for a couple of hours. He walked with his night stick in hand, tapping on the doors.
"Lights out, ladies." He called out with a booming voice, his hand finding the switch at the end of the hall. Each room was wired to one universal switch on the outside, and the hallway light always stayed on. He flipped it, a few of the crazier girls screamed and most just groaned. Felix huffed and began to walk back down the hall, checking the rooms as he went. The girls here were sneaky, some would hide male patients for hours at a time, some would just not show up.
He started with the right side, figuring if he did it one side at a time, he'd end in time to take lunch and maybe have some quiet time before touring the other halls.
Gazing into the first window, he noticed an older woman across the room, her knees to her chest as she glared at him. Typical. he moved on, checking to make sure they were actually in the beds and he was almost done when he came to the last room of the hall. He peered inside and smiled, he couldn't help it. Tapping on the glass window he chuckled. Malice was sitting there, fuming over something he was sure to catch hell about.
This hallway was rigged with cameras, but he knew the guard he was working with was meeting a female nurse in the supply closet at midnight. He smiled, maybe he could finally get a moment alone with Malice. He missed her company.
And maybe her body too.
