The smell of old books greets Aidan warmly as he shuffled through the door to the large library. He sighs, going straight to the back wall, where he left the last book he'd been working on. His eyes stayed fixed on that same book, hoping to stray from any unwanted interactions. The library was quiet, but held several patrons other than himself. Aidan avoided these quiet few by finding a small loveseat towards the back of the massive library.
Once comfortable, Aidan found the page he'd been on and picked up immediately, falling back into the story. He loved to immerse himself in literature and let the real world fall behind him. His mind soon eased up, and he grinned at the sudden peace. He was no longer in the dreadful asylum. No, he was far away from that place.
California, maybe. He'd just come back from a lunch date with a pretty girl, and picked up one of his favorite books. The sound of the city was muffled by the walls of his studio apartment, where he lived with that same pretty girl. He'd look up from the book to see her curled up on the couch, taking a sweet afternoon's nap. Maybe he'd get up, pick her up and lay her in bed, pull her into his arms, and whisper in her ear. Maybe she'd wake up, start to kiss him, wrap her legs around him...
Reality crashed back around Aidan with a start as another crazy dropped a book on the ground. A frown found his face, and a twinge of sadness threatened his frail state of mind. Not to mention, his sweatpants grew tighter around the part of him that hadn't yet realized it had all been a day dream. Aidan huffed and pulled his knees up to hide his embarrassment. He sat there a moment, not bothering to find his place in the book just yet.
