Solomon had been in Waterville for just two weeks. Something held him there, something much stronger than anything he'd felt before. He'd been following his senses for 3 years, and they'd taken him from town to town, never really settling down anywhere. Waterville was the first town that really felt like home. Something big was there, he felt it deep inside his bones. It kept him on his toes, exploring around the town in search of this thing.
While searching, Sol had managed to find a few makeshift venues to play at. After bugging the owners of the local coffee shop, he'd managed to book a spot on a Friday night. They ensured him he wouldn't have much of an audience, but that was the last thing he cared about. All he wanted to do was play.
That Friday, Solomon spent all day playing on his balcony, readying himself for the night ahead of him. He practiced his own songs, as well as several popular songs that would at least gain some attention.
Sol showed up an hour early, getting himself set up and ready to play right at 8. He had a corner of the shop reserved with a simple wooden stool and a microphone. Before playing, he ordered an ice water and had a cigarette, his usual ritual.
Growing up performing kept him from getting any type of stage fright, which he was thankful for. When 8 rolled around, he took his place on the stool. "Hey everybody!" He said, gaining a couple of head turns from the few patrons in the shop. "I'm Solomon Murphy, and I'm from California. Uh, I'm going to start off with one of my own songs, I hope you enjoy. It's called "Sugar."" He grinned, then began. His voice came out smooth and sweet, doing exactly what he wanted. Not many people watched, but he couldn't care less. He continued to play, completely consumed by his music.
