HISTORY Maria comes from a humble Christian family in Unity, ME. She grew up living with both her parents, who made good, honest money and provided for her. Her family was happy. Maria attended private Christian schools, and was very smart for her age. She wanted to become a doctor and help heal people. Or at least, she thought so.
When Maria turned 14, her mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Her mother was strong, and fought through it. After one full bout of surgeries and treatments, Iris was virtually cancer free. She had had one ovary removed, but was still in working order. In fact, as if a miracle, Iris became pregnant with a baby girl. Maria's family was ecstatic, and it only propelled Maria to continue her dream to be a doctor. Until, 7 months into the pregnancy, Iris suffered from a terrible miscarriage. The cancer had come back twice as hard. After only a month in the hospital, the cancer became terminal.
Maria was so close to her mother, and from the beginning of her illness, became severely depressed. She began cutting herself, on her thigh where she could hide it. She fell away from God and hated him for doing this to her mother. When her mother finally died, Maria tried to kill herself. She spent a year in rehab, where she was homeschooled. When she returned home, her father became very supportive of Maria, and helped her get better.
Maria mostly recovered, and found God again. Her passion to help those like her grew, and she started school for Psychiatry. Her father funded it graciously, and she was finally happy again. All except for that voice in the back of her head. The voice that screamed at her to be bad. She tried to ignore it, but it often kept her up at night. After all her schooling was done, Maria met Jeremiah. She lived with him for a year, engaged, while she found a job. When she heard about the Asylum just a few towns over, she jumped at the opportunity. So, with a passion to help and for God, she moved to the Asylum to help the patients. [/ul]

RP SAMPLE Maria huffed, setting down the patient file she'd been studying. Her brain was pounding and her stomach growled, telling her it was time for her break. All day, she only had 3 appointments scheduled. THREE. It would be a slow one.
She checked her watch, reading 12:30. Maria stood up and walked to the door, placing a do not disturb sign on it. She went to the cabinet in the corner, getting out a protein bar. She sat at her desk and ate it quietly, thinking about the other two patients she had to see. She said a quick prayer for them, then finished her snack and headed to the couch in the front of the room. Maria laid down, pulling the small throw blanket over herself. She was used to being opposite the couch, picking the brains of the whacked out people. Though at that moment, she felt like one of them. [/ul][/blockquote][/blockquote]
