Sheila did as he instructed and walked towards a near by counter, untouched by the earlier events. She pressed herself against it, closing her eyes tight. From what she could hear, he was mopping and scrubbing everything down, leaving no trace of him, her or Alice. It seemed so wrong. The smell of blood was replaced by bleach and cleaning products. He had wiped all that was Alice away and thrown her in a freezer. Even the patients didn't deserve that, much less a working class woman with a family and a life.
"How can you be so cold? Are people and lives nothing to you? You wiped her away like a mess. The least you could do was respect her and not throw her in the freezer she hated throwing patients in!" She had had it with his complete lack of remorse or emotion during this situation. Even after knowing Alice's background and life, he still couldn't view her as human.
"At least let me see her, to say goodbye. And that i'm sorry, since you obviously have no respect for the dead." Sheila brushed past him, making her way to the door and towards the morgue. A cold chill went down her spine. She wasn't a religious woman, but something told her Alice was somewhere she couldn't comprehend.
If ghosts were real, Carrion's house would be full of them.
Sheila made her way to the morgue and opened the door to the freezer, pulling her out only to her stomach; she didn't want to see her battered face. That was too much.
"I'm so sorry Alice. I'll try my best to see Beth when I can, I know she'll be confused." She swallowed hard, unable to get the words out.
"I made the casserole you gave me last night. He hasn't tried it yet, I don't think." She couldn't bare to say his name to her. It was like she wanted Alice to think she was talking about the Carrion she had talked so proudly about. Though she had never seen him, Carrion wasn't fond of pictures.
Sheila walked back out into the hallway after saying all she could. She crossed her arms and chewed on the inside of her bottom lip.
"Carrion?"
